Choosing the film can take half an hour. Deciding what to eat can take another half. By the time everyone agrees, someone has started snacking, another person wants dinner, and the opening scene is waiting for the delivery.
Planning the food before pressing play can help keep movie night on track. Pizza, burgers, momos and nachos each have a place in the order, but they serve different appetites and ways of eating. Some work for sharing throughout the film; others give each person a meal of their own.
The starting point is a question: is the group ordering dinner, snacks or a mix of both? Once that is settled, quantities and combinations become easier to judge.
Pizza: Build the sharing order around preferences

Pizza gives people something to reach for without needing a separate serving each time. Before choosing toppings, check who eats meat, who prefers vegetables and whether anyone has dietary requirements or allergies.
A mix of pizzas can accommodate preferences, but variety alone should not determine the order. If most people want the same topping, there is little reason to buy several alternatives that may remain in their boxes.
Check the diameter, crust and slice count where the menu provides them. Size labels vary between restaurants, and a pizza cut into more slices does not necessarily provide more food.
Consider what else you are ordering. Pizza that serves as dinner needs to cover the group’s appetite. Pizza served alongside burgers or momos may require fewer portions.
Set out plates before the film begins so people can take a slice without balancing the delivery box on their knees.
Burgers: Give each person a choice
Burgers can make planning easier when everyone wants a meal they can choose for themselves. Rather than agreeing on toppings for the table, each person can select a filling and additions.
Confirm the order before checkout. Patties, sauces, cheese and other ingredients can differ between menu items, even when the names sound similar.
Look at what is included in a combo. Fries and drinks may suit some guests, while others may only want the burger. Ordering a combo for everyone can add food and drinks the group does not need.
Momos: Count pieces before ordering plates

Momos can serve as a snack before the film or sit alongside the rest of dinner. The quantity depends on which role they play.
Check the number of pieces in each portion and multiply it against the group’s size. One plate may give everyone a taste without providing enough for those counting on it as their meal.
Choose the filling and preparation with the group in mind. Steamed momos, fried versions and those served in sauce have different serving needs. Sauce-coated preparations may be easier to manage with bowls and forks.
Keep dips on the side and provide spoons for serving them. People can then choose how much to add without passing an open container across the sofa.
Nachos: Plan around the toppings

Nachos can provide something to share during the film, but the way they are packed matters. Chips that sit under cheese sauce, salsa or other toppings may soften before everyone is ready to eat.
Check whether the restaurant packs toppings separately. If it does, put out smaller portions and add more as needed instead of covering the entire serving at once.
Read the description for ingredients such as beans, jalapeños, cheese and meat. The item photograph may not make every addition clear.
Place dips within reach and give guests plates. This helps keep food contained when attention shifts back to the screen.
Finish the planning before the opening scene
Before ordering on Zomato do check the delivery estimates as orders from several restaurants may arrive at different times.
There is no need to include all four foods. Pizza and nachos may suit a group that wants to share, while burgers with momos can cover dinner and a starter.
Set out water, tissues, plates and cutlery while waiting. Once the food arrives, check the items and distribute the meals. Then everyone can settle in without making the delivery bags part of the plot.
